Groeni (NZ) Jaala Uncomfortable Science feat. Swooping Duck Sampa The Great - spoken word set Vulture St. Tape Gang Clever Austin - beat set CORIN Wondercore DJs
Local label Wondercore Island are taking over the Gasometer Hotel to celebrate their 4th birthday with a line-up of artists from across Australia and their first international signing, NZ electronic act Groeni, who will be making their Melbourne debut just in time for their EP release 'Hinde'.
Previous JJJ, RTR, RRR and FBi Feature Album holders Jaala will make their Gasometer return after their March residency and showcasing new music and their 'emotional whinge-prog nonsense".
Wholly improvised sets from both Brisbane based experimental beat-makers Vulture St Tape Gang and Swooping Duck (aka Perrin Moss, Simon Mavin and Paul Bender of Hiatus Kaiyote group) led under the guise of Lachlan Mitchell's (Laneous) project Uncomfortable Science, armed with a marker and a white board he'll lead the group through his spontaneous compositions.
In the upstairs room: Sampa The Great, fresh from supporting Kendrick Lamar, will perform a spoken word set to a lucky few who can squeeze into the room, newcomer CORIN, a FBi FM 'Best Producer' nominee, plays her nuanced and cinematic electronic soundscapes, and Clever Austin performs a rare solo beat-set of new cuts and edits from his Hide-Away Headshell Vol.1 and 2.
Tickets $12 + BF (early bird), $18 + BF & $20 on door. Doors 7.30pm.
