FAQ

Your Profile

As a registered GigBill user you can be authorised to manage one or more artist 'profiles'. This means that artists and bands who sign up are able to update their information and can manage their gig listings. Any artist profiles your account is linked to will appear on your 'My GigBill' page.

Existing artist profiles

If you need access to the existing artist profile, please let us know and we will set it up for you.

Creating and updating artist profile

Once you are a GigBill registered user, you can create artist profiles by going to the My GigBill page (menu option) and clicking on the plus sign in the 'My Artist' section. This will take you to the edit screen where you update your band bio, upload a profile picture, and add your social links. Please note that there are a couple of special fields (soundcloud, bandcamp, youtube) - see instructions below.

After the artist profile has been created, you can always go back to update the information. To update the artist information, navigate to the artist page and click on the little magic wand icon under the profile picture which will take you to the update form. Please note that only authorised users will be able to see this icon.

Creating and updating event listing

You need to be registered user in order to list an event on GigBill. You don't necesseraly need to have an artist profile, meaning you can create an event and link it to the existing artists as long as it complies with our terms and conditions. This means venue owners, promoters and publicists can list gigs without having to manage artist information.

Once you are registered, go to the menu and click on 'List a gig'. This will take you to the form where you can fill in the event details including name, venue, cost and line up information. To update the information at a later stage, navigate to the event page and click on the little magic wand icon which appears under the event photo in order to access the update form.

Adding Soundcloud link in Artist Profile

To embed the Soundcloud player into the artist profile page:
1. Navigate to the artist page at soundcloud
2. Find and click on 'Share' button
3. Click on the 'Embed' tab
4. Copy the string from 'Code & preview' field
The code should looks something like this:

<iframe width="100%" height="450" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/users/43146102&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true"></iframe>

Adding Bandcamp link in Artist Profile

To embed the Bandcamp player into the artist profile page:
1. Navigate to the artist page at bandcamp
2. Find and click on 'Share/Embed' link
3. Click on the 'Embed this album' link
4. Select a style. We recommend medium size.
4. Copy the string from 'Embed' field.
The code should looks something like this:

<iframe style="border: 0; width: 100%; height: 120px;" src="http://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/album=1286530559/size=large/bgcol=ffffff/linkcol=0687f5/tracklist=false/artwork=small/transparent=true/" seamless> <a href="http://thedeltariggs.bandcamp.com/album/dipz-zebazios">Dipz Zebazios by The Delta Riggs</a></iframe>

Adding YouTube video

With YouTube videos you only need to provide the id of the video which is to be played in the artist profile. You can find the video id at the end of the YouTube URL.
For example, for this Kingswood video, the full URL is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgVG-nS-X9c
The id can be found at the end of the string after the = sign, in this case it is mgVG-nS-X9c. This is all you need to paste into the YouTube field.

I keep missing gigs from my favourite bands. How can GigBill help?

GigBill is exactly what you need! When you create a profile you can heart your favourite bands which will customise your gig guide to show those bands gigs first. Keep adding new bands anytime by clicking the heart button on their image when you see a gig of theirs pop up, or search for them in the search bar. Based on your favourite list we can also recommend new bands that we think you’ll like. So jump to it! Create a profile and start creating your favourite list!

Is this site just for Melbourne bands? What if I want to know if an international or interstate band is playing in town?

Not a problem! As long as a band is playing a gig in Melbourne or greater Victoria they will appear in our gig guide listing. So if you have added them to your favourite list you will know when they play a gig in Melbourne!

if I want to see what other gigs are on, not just from my favourite list?

It’s all there! Your favourites are priorities to be on top but just scroll the page down and see all gigs continuing chronologically from the day you’re looking at it.

Do I need to create an account to use gigbill?

Not at all! Our site is open for anyone to use. But you get the best out of our site by creating a favourites list so you don’t miss gigs from any of your favourite bands.

I don’t live in Melbourne, can I still use Gigbill?

Right now we’re perfecting the site for Melbourne and greater Victoria gigs only. But if you’re travelling to Melbourne there’s no better source of information on what gigs are playing than GigBill!

Stay tuned as we will be expanding to other cities very soon.
