Hot Gigs and Hot Tips - 04 May 2016

Another week, another great run of giggy-goodness to coax even the most reluctant of punters out of their snug homes and out into the autumn weather!

Local darling Ella Hooper will this week play the first show of a month-long residency at The Gasometer in Collingwood. Hooper is gearing up for the June release of ‘New Magic’, the follow up to last years ‘Venom’. The EP is apparently all about “getting your groove back, turning the corner, with a new 'do and ready to sink a few”- the perfect antidote to the recent cool weather in our books! Supports will be provided across May from the likes of Mojo Juju and Van Walker.

Friday night will see Ballarat-bred five piece Crepes play a headline show at Carlton’s John Curtin Hotel. If you haven’t wrapped your earholes around their latest single, ‘Hidden Star’, you are doing yourself a disservice. With supports from Ocean Party and Totally Mild, this gig is one not to miss!

Heroes of the Australian indie scene Ball Park Music play Brunswick’s Howler this Saturday. Unsurprisingly, this bad boy has completely sold out, so keep an eye on the Facebook event for last minute tickets!

Kiwi singer songwriter Ladyhawke has just announced she will be coming across the ditch for her first Aussie tour in three years! She will bring her latest album Wild Things to play Howler on July 16.

Electronic Artist Tourist has also just announced he will be back in the merry old land of Aus for a mere two shows, one of which will be at (yet again) Howler, the home of all that is cool. Tickets go on sale for the August 26th show this Friday the 6th at 10am. No doubt these will go like hot cakes, so be sure to log on to nab yourself a spot.
