Underground Lovers at the Northcote Social Club

There are only a handful of bands that have been around for almost 30 years that are still producing brilliant music that personally resonates with me. Underground Lovers is one of the select few. Celebrating the release of their brilliant new album, 'Staring At You Staring At Me', Melbourne has been lucky to get two album launches.

Affectionally known as the Undies to their devoted fans, they played two sets at the Northcote Social Club on Queen's Birthday Eve. The first being a more laid back affair with the trio of Vincent Giarrusso, Glenn Bennie and Maurice Argiro. For the second set, Philippa Nihill, Richard Andrew and Emma Bortignon joined them on stage to perform their exemplary brand of dream pop music. It all ended with a couple of encores that ended with a blistering version of a song they vowed to never play again, 'Promenade'. #takemeonawalk
