Top Marks! Mark Irelands tops gigs for May

This Month in Melbourne it would be completely understandable if you feel overwhelmed by all the amazing gigs on offer, my best advice is just to take a deep breath and walk blindly into the night and let the music guide you.

Here are my top 5 recommendations for May! - Mark Ireland

Black Cab - Corner Hotel Sat 11th May

Black Cab Launch their new single Take IT , which is a move away from the dark Kraut Rock sound, and more of a  move into sunnier electro pop vibe.

Seven Songs To Leave Behind -  Hamer Hall 18th May

Seven Songs To Leave Behind is Three artists, Sarah Blasko, CW StoneKing and Ali Barter, who will perform three separate sets, but with an interesting twist, each artist will perform one song they wish they had written, one of their own favorite songs and one song they would like to share with fellow artists.

This unique night will be something special, noy because of the contrasts of artists but also because it will open the door a little bit more to the creative side of each singer and their influences.

RVG Howler 24th May

RVG will have a quick stop over in Melbourne to release their yet to be titled new single before heading back to the states and Europe.

Melbourne have known for ages how amazing RVG are and the rest of the world are finally catching up.

There shows are full of energetic drama, Romy Vager’s stage presence will capture you, take you to the dark side of your psych, and make you question all things about your life.

Grace Cummings and Band - Old Bar 16th May

Grace has become my favorite new find this year bar none, I saw her for the first time at Boogie Festival over Easter, when I first saw her it was like giant sucker punch, the wind was taken out of me so much I had to sit there and shake my head still not knowing what I had just witnessed.

Grace voice will elevate you to a space where all things just stop for an hour, you won’t be able to move, your ears will be locked to a frequency where her voice will be the only thing you will be able to hear.

Be prepared to hear your new favorite singer, I can unequivocally  say there will be huge things to come from Grace.

Ezekiel OX Sookie Lounge 30th May

I honestly don't know where Zeke gets the energy from, when he’s not fronting Mammal or Superheist, he's on the road performing his own solo music, his performances are like landmines your afraid where to stand at his gigs because you might get caught in the explosion, this tour specifically is to promote his new album Cheering Bombs from Deckchairs, like Heist and Mammal it’s a heady mix of super funky bass lines mixed with killer rock riffs.

He’s playing shows all around the country so there is plenty of opportunities to catch him live.

Get out and Get amongst it!
